The future holder of this position will be expected to support international teaching, primarily in English, within the bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes of the Faculty of Applied Economics (AWW) / School of Management. Extensive international management experience (preferably gained outside Europe) in the fields of marketing, sales, and human resource management is required. In addition, we expect the ability to design learning environments that prepare students for employment in a global, intercultural context. Particular emphasis is placed on intercultural training, team building, global leadership, and international negotiation. Furthermore, the ability and willingness to conduct courses in German is also required.

We also expect a readiness to contribute to academic self-governance and to the further development of the Faculty of Applied Economics.

We are looking for a committed, team-oriented, and practice-experienced candidate with an international outlook and several years of generalist experience, who brings diverse expertise in international marketing, human resource management, and intercultural management.

We are seeking a business professional with a multicultural and entrepreneurial mindset who conveys deliver business administration content to students in a practical and lively manner and is particularly adept at illustrating the interrelations between different business functions in an engaging way. Additionally, the ideal candidate should address the challenges and opportunities of globalisation, further develop these in collaboration with partners in the industry and translate them effectively into teaching.

General requirements

• Pedagogical aptitude
special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in professional practice of a minimum of five years, which must have been completed after obtaining the university degree and of which at least three years must have been completed outside of the higher education sector; in special cases, proof of professional practice outside the higher education sector can be provided by having completed a substantial part of the professional practice of a period of at least five years in cooperation between the higher education and non-higher education sectors.

Appointment to the W1 junior professorship is limited to a maximum of six years and will be made either as a fixed-term public service appointment or under an employment contract. Within the framework of the W1 junior professorship on the doctoral track, candidates must demonstrate a particular aptitude for academic research, which is generally evidenced by the quality of their doctoral degree.

The standard teaching requirement for full-time junior professors (W1) at universities of applied sciences is 6 to 9 teaching units per week during the semester.

The position is suitable for severely disabled persons. Severely disabled applicants will be given preference if they essentially have equal qualifications, expertise and professional performance.

The Deggendorf Institute of Technology is one of the most dynamic and ambitious Universities of Applied Sciences in Southern Germany renowned for excellence in research.
