Prof. Georgi Chaltikyan, MD, PhD is Professor and Head of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Education, Research & Development in Digital Health at the European Campus Rottal-Inn (ECRI) / Deggendorf Institute of Technology (DIT-ECRI), Germany. He is the Director of the Master of Digital Health (MDH) programme—run as a Double-Degree between DIT-ECRI (Germany) and Russian-Armenian University (RAU)—and the Founder and Chairman of the Armenian Association of Digital Health (AADH). He also serves as Founder and Head of the DigiHealthDay Forum and Series, and of the Research and Education Centre of Digital Health (RAU-CDH) in Armenia.
A graduate of the Yerevan State Medical University, Prof. Chaltikyan was trained as a general surgeon and spent around 20 years in clinical practice in general and laparoscopic surgery. He has extensive experience in healthcare education, research, and management, including fellowships and internships in Germany, Austria, France, and the USA. From 2001 to 2009, he served as Associate Professor at the Department of Surgery of Yerevan State Medical University, teaching medicine and surgery to undergraduate and postgraduate students in English, Armenian, and Russian. In 2009–2010, he was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California (USA). From 2010 to 2015, he worked in private surgical practice at a large multi-profile hospital.
Since 2008, as Founder and President of AADH, he has been instrumental in designing and implementing several successful Digital Health projects with international collaboration. He joined DIT-ECRI at its launch in 2015, and has since played a pivotal role in building its Digital Health ecosystem, including establishing the WHO Collaborating Centre on Digital Health (February 2025). He founded the DigiHealthDay Forum (2020)—a global platform for education, research, innovation, and networking in Digital Health.
Prof. Chaltikyan leads numerous international collaborations with organizations such as the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH), International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA), European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI), German eHealth Society (DGG), and HL7 Germany, among others.
He is a frequent keynote speaker, moderator, and host at international conferences, and has published widely on Digital Health education and policy. His current research focuses on Digital Health Education and Upskilling, Global and National Digital Health Policies and Strategies, and Digital Precision (10P) Health. He co-founded and heads the Armenian Digital Health Initiative, developed by AADH and its partners, and is currently launching the MDH Alliance—a global movement to harmonize Master of Digital Health degrees worldwide.
