I think most of the people in our society know this stage of life called „being a student“. It is actually more complicated as it seems. It is the stage of life when you are not just responsible for studying, but also building and taking care of your own life. Since everyone has a different version of seeing everything, everyone creates a unique version of living life, living the stage of being a student. Let me bring you close to one of these versions, my version of living this stage…
My student life started around 9 months ago at THD, here in Deggendorf. Since Germany is not my home country, I had to face a lot of difficult situations regarding documents, place to live and other things of this kind, and almost all of them alone. There were more or less from time to time and since I started my student life in pandemic times, it also had its effect on everything.
But what is the situation now and how did I manage it until now? Multitasking!
The most important thing is studying. I always have to keep up with that. Since I’m studying Computer Science, moreover in German language, it takes me a good time to get used to some words that are for a special field. And I am only in my second semester, so I still have a lot of subjects to take care of and to study a lot after having the whole day of classes.
Apart from studying, one of the most important things is my job. I’m practicing two different student jobs, which also takes a good part of my time. Due to the fact that both of them are student jobs, I don’t have to work for each of them every day of the week and since one of them is an online job, I can choose the hours and days I want to work. As for the other one, it is always in the afternoon, so I’ve chosen to work there on the days that my classes end at noon.
Meanwhile, I've been a member of ESN Deggendorf since I came here, something that I am really happy about because, among everything else, it helped me to get to know other students during Corona times through online activities. And as a member of it, I also help sometimes with organizing/ideas…etc., which I try to do after my lessons in the evening.
As a foreign student, there are always documents that I have to deal with, and dealing with them not being in your mother tongue or your home country’s language has its difficulties. And not to forget the fact that I always like to help people when I can. Since I have faced many difficulties for myself and know how to resolve a lot of situations that you face as a student, I do my best to help others not face them alone.
Combining these and many other small things that come up in my daily life, it looks like a whole mess. In the meantime, considering the fact that everyone has to take care of their health, especially living with a pandemic all around the world, the issue of mental health has become a really risky one. But how do I take care and deal with the whole stuff at the same time?
Having a busy life has always been my type. As many of you already know, I love organizing everything in my life in detail. That helps me keep track of everything, and the best way to do it is by writing everything down and planning every day of mine. Moreover, a busy life is my motivation to keep running with time and get as many things as possible done at the same time. Why is that? Because having a lot of things to do means having a lot of things going on in my life, which makes my life never boring. Having an interesting lifestyle boosts my adrenaline and motivation to move on with everything and live with positivity and optimism.
