Choosing a place to study is sometimes more complicated and important than we think. You not only choose the place you want to complete your studies, but you also live a part of our life in that place. So when I had to do my choice, I thought about what I needed in my day-to-day life from a city as a student, and my first words when I saw Deggendorf were: „I have everything I need here“. And as a student I’ll tell you why I find it really comfortable here...
First of all, since it is a small city, you can find the services easily and you have everything near you, like: university, pharmacies, supermarkets and shops, library, town hall…etc.
Something that I really loved when I came to Deggendorf was the long Promenade along the Donau River, which I find a really nice combination and since I love sunsets, I thought spending time there would be my daily place to chill and relax.
While talking to people that lived here before, I found out that Deggendorf is a safe place to live, something that makes you feel even more comfortable from the moment that you hear it, especially when you are a foreign student at a young age.
Furthermore, one of the places that I visited when I came was of course DIT. At that time it was still closed because the semester hadn’t started yet, but a friend of mine showed me around. I found it amazing that there were a lot of possibilities offered to students to help them with studies or even in their everyday life, like the library, cafeteria & small shop or even international offices that would help international students with their documents and arriving.
Not forgetting to mention that although a small city, there is public transport that makes it possible for you to travel anywhere anytime, like in many other beautiful cities around Deggendorf just as a daytrip or more.
As far as I am concerned, even after 6 months, I still think that living in Deggendorf while studying is a really good choice, which I would recommend to other students.
